Come and Be Filled - Posters from Installation (Theology + Art)
Through my installation, I explored two questions. The first, ‘how has Christ continued to influenced people throughout time?’ was explored through the poster art. The verses that I used are actually verses that inspired people who have been influences in my life as a young Christian—parents, mentors and peers. Through the practice of wakefulness and exploring the other, I saw what the verses mean to them, how Christ has influenced them, and how they pass down those traditions to those who look up to them.
I explored the second question, ‘who did Christ come to save?’ through the installment of the poster series. Through the setup, I recontextualized the artwork to look like they are simple flyers on a wall in an urban setting for adolescents and young adults. My goal through this installation was to emphasize the fact that flyers are accessible, everyday things, and that like the flyers, the story of Christ and his gift of salvation is for everybody. My hope is that by using simple posters about Christ as flyers, young Christians can interact with them, learn that Christ came to save all, and pass that message on. In some ways it is like an advertisement, or an invitation to “come and be filled.”
Every nine seconds, a woman is assaulted or beaten. Among those victims, are women that we encounter everyday—our mothers, sisters, and best friends. “End the Silence” is a live action commercial that serves as a call to action for viewers to stand up for victims of domestic violence. The commercial is meant to raise awareness on the reality of domestic violence in our society, drawing the connection of victims as female figures in our lives to the statistic stated at the beginning. The “silence” of the victims is portrayed through the different messages in the commercial—lies or cover ups that victims may say because they are afraid to defend themselves. The hope is that the viewer makes a connection to the commercial in realizing that domestic violence is very real and many victims are silenced by fear or culture—silence that must be broken by those who can.

"All Up in Your Ears" - LAX data story packaging piece
This tri-fold print houses headphones for Virgin America customers. The packaging tells the story of noise levels at the airport and the effect of the noise on a person’s hearing. The front graphic features an actual sound byte from LAX, while the inside contains facts about sound and airport noise.Through the packaging, the company apologizes for any damage to hearing and encourages customers to protect their ears!
